The highlight of the day will be the International Food Festival, organised by the Parent’s Guild. All parents and guardians are invited to come along at the end of the school day and sample some of the delicious fare on offer. Please look out for tickets, which will go on sale in the Foyer from Tuesday 25th October.

Halloween - 31st October

We would like to invite all of our students to join in some fun on Monday 31st October by dressing up in a 'Halloween' fancy dress costume, or a costume that follows a 'black and orange' theme if preferred.

Please note that costumes should be suitable for a school environment with young children, and should not include masks or weapons. Junior School students are asked not to wear face paint, due to the mess that this can cause throughout the day.

We look forward to seeing some spooktacular students!

Homework in the Junior School

In response to some questions during Junior School Coffee Mornings, please find below clarification on our approach to Homework in the Junior School currently.

We strive to ensure that Homework tasks are meaningful and authentic, either to consolidate learning, prepare for future learning or extend and dive deeper beyond what has been studied in the classroom. Homework will represent a range of subject areas over the academic year, at the discretion of Grade Teams, in accordance to the needs of individual Classes or cohorts.

We recommend a “top and tail” approach. With your child, take a look at their task and allow opportunity for clarifying questions to get started then allow them to complete independently. Support your child with time-management and knowing when to stop and then celebrate their successes. Please take special note of the suggested timings for the Homework, and if your child has not completed the work in the allocated time we encourage children to stop and bring the Homework in to show their teachers how far they got.

We always aim to reflect on and review our processes, and so will be carrying out a Homework review later this year. If you would like to be involved, please do look out for more information coming after the break.
